Just looking at replacement batteries for my ageing V7.

Seem to be able to get 4000mAh ones for around £35 from Amazon. Twice the capacity of the original ones. Are they any good?

I got one for my V8 from ebay (seller was allfine2018) and also a set of filters on another order - like a new heart!

Mine is like new. I would say it runs on boost mode for much longer than before.

Likewise. In theory the replacement has the same rating but it is MUCH better. Wish I’d replaced it with a knock off a few years ago.

I had the same concerns but didn’t fancy around 3 times the cost for the Dyson job. Glad I was a cheap bugger and got the knock off.

Do it, (and don’t Blame me if you get a duff one) wink

Another vote for the copy batteries from me.

I ordered one from amazon for an old V6 and it doubled the run time.

Been in it for 18 months and no problem.

I have a v6 and have gone through 2 replacement eBay batteries.

They just stop. It is not the batteries inside ( I have opened them up) but the electronics seem to fry.

I have bought a real one now !

Any thoughts/ideas on replacement heads/attachments?

We've got a corded 'big ball' none-upright Dyson, can't remember the official name. Still loads of suction but the regular turbine head really seems to struggle to pick up these days. A genuine head looks to be £50+. Wondered if anywhere was supplying a cheaper but proficient alternative.

I've known a few cheap 38.3 "certified" batteries to pop under independent tests. I'd tend to agree.

Fire extinguisher won't do anything to a lithium cell.

This, having seen 1st hand one of these having a major meltdown I would buy genuine. It is just not worth the risk, if they go pop whilst charging, the continued charging just keeps the battery fire going.

To put this in a little perspective, the energy density of a lead acid battery is about 40Wh/kg, in comparison Lithium-Ion starts at over 100Wh/kg up to over 160Wh/kg.

I’d be tempted not to mess around with knock offs when it comes to lithium ion batteries.

I was tempted, but given ours is wall mounted and its docking Station is permanently connected to the mains charger for the sake of a few quid id rather not have my houae burnt down in my sleep.

I've bought knock off drill packs but they're not permanently charging.

Check for warranty still left. We had a Dyson Animal ( round ball shape) that was failing, the suction was down. It was about 2 years ago and still within warranty. Phoned Dyson and they sent a service engineer out. He diagnosed wear in the joints as the cause. He ordered new parts. They arrived within a couple of days. A full set of pipes and head. Perfect after fitting. No charge due to warranty.

I wouldn’t .... my bro bought one and his fried whilst he was asleep, if his neighbour hadn’t woke him seeing smoke coming out of the kitchen window it would have at best killed his dog that was asleep downstairs.

No fire just putrid smoke. He was lucky not to have died in his bed.
