My late Father's old AA Badge, chrome good, the yellow not so. He's obviously tried to touch it up at some point in a different shade of yellow. Do I strip and repaint or leave the patina. Only going to be a decoration in the garage.

Leave as is - would not be your Dad's old badge if you repainted it

Leave it. I’ve kept my Dad’s badges (BRDC, AA, BARC) and put them on my Jag, it’s the patina that makes them special.

True and yes my thoughts too except his touching in is pretty poor.

I have the same problem, but I’m happy as they are. Don’t want to spend a load of ££££s and make them perfect as they would look out of place on the car.

If it's enamel and you want it made like new, I know a professional enameller.

Even better! Seriously; your Dad gave it a go and like the best of us is didn't turn out as hoped/expected. Or maybe it did - either way its got your Dad's signature on it.

Absolutely this. I’ve got a few bits that my Grandad ‘improved’ over the years with his best efforts. It makes them more special.
