Garden Kitchens - show me yours?
Discussion
We're having a new patio/paved area laid (4.8m x 5.4m) - it faces west with the southern side facing the hedge and neighbours garden, so will be bathed in sunshine in the summer. To the back (east) is a paddock, and to the north is the garage.
I'd like to build some form of outdoor kitchen, but I have two challenges. The first is what sort of roof to have - pitched or flat, the second is how to configure it to have a decent eating space to go with the cooking area.
So, fellow PH'ers, my request is; please post your photos of your own garden kitchens/bbq areas. When I try and research it on t'internet I get all sorts of glamorous shots of the most expensive set ups you could imagine. I have a four burner gas bbq and thru'pence ha'penny to build the kitchen so am looking for inspiration on a budget. I have asked the fellas to lay some pipes for water so that will be built in at some stage.

Looks great Tom-is that a Kamado? They worth the money? I\ve heard great things
They are Big Green Eggs, one large, one mini. I think they are worth every penny. Yes they're expensive but they also last a lifetime, and get used all year round several times a week. I use them for grilling, low and slow, pizza, cold smoking, hot smoking, and even as an oven for bread making.Ranger 6 said:
That's excellent, I have visions of a wood burner in the eating 'section' and had thought about a pizza oven - what's the proportion of use between the oven and the bbq?
We have probably used the BBQ more if I'm being honest 60/40 in favour of the BBQ. however the pizza oven became a bit of a feature point and a definite hit. Thanks - I will have a space for one I think
Bristolbaron - that's great, better than my kitchen too.
This is the sort of design I'm currently looking at. Kitchen/cooking area at the rear left, the table/eating area to the right (the south facing side)

Also considering a pitched roof

To add context - the garage to the left of the patio area has a flat roof.

.....particularly eggy bread as I'm banned from cooking that in the house.
That's not good - we all cook eggy bread together. A couple of frying pans going, with the kids managing those, and then my wife and I do the drinks and lay the table. Lovely plates full on a weekend morning

Would be happy to cook on an outdoor kitchen if not raining. Cooked some last week in my bar on a camping stove and left bar doors open for a few hours.
