How would you guys smarten up the entrance to my drive? Obviously there is some weeding that needs to go on! I want to get rid of the concrete bump and possibly add flags or just get it tarmacked

I'd leave it as it is. Not a fan of overly manicured landscaping around older places - at least that's what I say to justify being lazy.

Other benefit is if you leave it like that you'll look poor to the crims and they won't smash your gates down (fnar) to see what is behind there laugh

What is the surface inside the gates? I"d have thought it would be better if it matched. that albeit I'd lift the sleeping policeman unless it's there for a particular reason., like holding back the gravel?
If you wanted to change it then some cobbles would be nice, but might get slippery when wet.

I assume the concrete bump is there to stop rain washing your drive away in heavy rain or gravel covering the road. I would leave it as is.
Weed the drive and add some interesting plants to the raised bed and thats all it needs

Smarten up the bits of greenery, get rid of the grass and weeds, replace the rotten bits of wood in ranch style fence with fresh timber. Then remove the hump and put down some paviors in an appropriate colour and complementary style like this.

I'd paint the drive gates and doors on the out building the same colour as the window in the house and if possible move the gates to the inner corner of the outbuilding. Then block pave the drive as above and possibly get rid of the pedestrian gate as it seems to serve no purpose or replace with one matching the double gates.

The fencing is a particularly style that I think fits with the property.

The rest of the drive is gravel.

Weeding would be a good idea of course biggrin

The bump I think I can replace with something nicer and not as severe. It was originally there for flooding but its never been a problem in the 3 years I have been here.

So would I. Unless the OP is going to replace the whole drive I would just use weed killer

There are outbuildings and garaging to the left and the right of the house and all the woodwork is charcoal black. The house in the middle green does look good when you look at it collectively. Having a holding area on the drive while you wait for the gates to open does work well .. rather than waiting on the lane

Take it away and there will be a flash flood excavating a 3ft trench through your driveway/foundations within a year. Leave it and you will never need it.
Prevention is better than having to rebuid your house

Paint the gates, windows etc to match the house, put some lights up, coach lights? and general tidying.

Bump would have to go as well.

Tarmac would match the road, I suppose. I wouldn't be worried about cosmetics or things looking 'in keeping' where the area is outside of your fence (albeit perhaps still in your boundary). I'd be getting some local nomads in to get some black down.

Lay some setts up to the gates then leave as gravel past them.

Will look much nicer and gets rid of the concrete hump.
