I'm about to get a kitchen retiled, walls and floor.

Rather than have the wall tiles revert to skirting board before meeting the floor tiles, I'd quite like it to go right down to the floor, possibly using one of these little things flipped upside-down, to create a tiny ceramic "skirting board" where the wall meets the floor.

Is this a really stupid plan? And without looking at an upstand made from the floor tiles (we don't think it'd suit the flooring tiles which are really big), is there another product/option that might work better than my stupid idea?

We have done this on a new build that we are building. The tiles were800x800 so we cut then done to 100mm strips and put a tile trim on top. Looks really good tbh

That's interesting - I don't suppose you have any photos of the effect?

We did this in our downstairs loo.

Floor tiles used on the wall to create skirting with a small silver trim to create an edge

We did the same having previously had skirting in the downstairs bathroom. It’s a way better solution than skirting for sure:

You should be able to source matching plinth , skirting board type , tiles for your chosen floor tiles , it's the norm in mainland Europe.

We fitted the world's smallest WC and sink under the stairs when we moved in in 2019.

We used the same tile as the 'big' wall - in a larger space a contrasting colour / size / shape tile could really work. Just a bit of caution re making sure that however they're installed they don't need disturbing come change of flooring (doesn't really apply if the floor's going to be ceramic tiles as well).

We have matched floor tiles and skirting tiles in our kitchen and downstairs toilet.. Basically skirting version of the floor tile. Both from the same range and far better than wood. They look neat as they are matched to the floor tiles.
