Neff c67p70n microwave / small oven.

Wife cooked a jacket potato and this dropped down.

Possibly from here. No screw or rivet or anything fell.

Any ideas, what it is or does?

It's a reflector

Might help you work out where it came from

G

Crikey! I'm worried now as our Neff oven will be 8 this year, too. frown

The rust is a result of a damp oven being left to corrode. Microwaving food can produce large amounts of moisture, which should be dried with a bit of kitchen roll, the door left open or conventional heat produced by an element.
Unfortunately, the oven cavities are rarely available as a space part. The aerial that has dropped off is replaceable though. smile

Does the circular hole in the reflector fit in or over something in the middle of the waveguide in the third picture? It might even rotate to splatter the microwaves around the oven more evenly.

Looks exactly like what it does. Not my picture, googling found this:

It is a Microwave/Oven/Grill but we have another full size oven each side of it, one of which is a steam oven; we only ever use this for grilling or microwaving.

Looks like the repair kit part with the screw and antenna is around £80. On the basis that fitting will be £100, the rusty holes and the temperamental programme selector which will likely fail at some point I've decided to replace it for a Microwave + Grill. I think I'll tackle the installation but wouldn't be so keen to repair it myself.

Same make so hoping the steel will blend with the existing appliances although the knobs and buttons have changed in the latest models.

Wifette instructed to leave the door open post cooking and not annihilate everything at 1000Ws.

Replacing the middle one, hopefully it won't look too out of place next to the older models.

Door rust.

Front, two holes quite visible.

Rear, only one side has rusted through.

On our Neff combi the fan keeps running for several minutes after it's finished cooking, so that should clear any condensation. The fan stops if the door is left open.

I would think that’s an external (to the cavity ) cooling fan rather than the internal cooking fan. The current version of the OP’s combi brings the grill on at low power for a short time after microwave usage to aid drying , this can be switched on/off in the user settings.

I think replacing the oven would be the most sensible action in these circumstances and lucky it’s positioned centrally, so the newer design should look ok.

Sorry to reply late in the day - we have exactly the same oven and exactly the same thing has happened - did you end up repairing yours? I've ordered a new reflector and new screws, is it just as simple as taking out the old screw (which I think is still lodged in there) and screwing in the new one? Thanks for any advice - Tom

No we replaced it as it had corroded as well.
