House Removal Costs

We paid £2k on the nose for a full pack, couple dozen miles, and unpack. Inc big furniture dismantle.
Cornerstones company, 4 bed, 3 x XXL Lutons and a couope off big cars full.
Eastern European firm, but the 6 blokes were ruthlessly efficient & professional in work ethic even if it was tracksuits & thick accents at dawn.
Irony being the British firm packing up the house we moved to were professionally turned out with sign written van, uniforms, etc... But slow as balls at actually packing up & delayed us 2 hours.

We moved a *very* full 3 bed 25 miles.. For £1300 we got 6 guys who worked their butts off all day, which included disassembling and reassembling 3 beds (one which was a flat pack cabin bed, which I thought would never properly reassemble, but they did it) and packing a stupidly large tv (Mrs’ choice).
Last time I moved was as a single part time dad, from a 2 bed to a 3 bed with minimal stuff. Had 2 mates helping, one of whom used to work as a removals guy. By the end of the day we were utterly, and I mean utterly, shattered.
I’ve no idea how these guys do it everyday. Together with bin men they must be amongst the fittest workers.
Pay them. You will not regret it.

Just shy of 2k for a 3/4 bed 1 mile up the road. This was over 2 days. Day 1 was everything bar the beds and TV and day 2 deliver.
The milage, unless you're going across country isn't a big factor. 1 mile or 40 will be similar.
Use a local company, not a national. 11k takes the piss.

Something is clearly different with your move though. Access / art / type of furniture / something technical / diss/reassembley
I've recently put together a £11k move ironically over a similar distance but it's a four day affair. Possibly entering a fifth.
Something about your move is worrying or simply intensive.

I think it’s the art work as there’s some high value stuff so I might look at moving them myself.Either £11k is 'we don't want this' or it's correct.

I nearly fell over when I received the first quote.
Just moved a 5 bed house (inc garage and shed contents), 3 day move about 15 miles away - £3k.
This includes full pack and load day before completion, dismantling all furniture, pick up final bits on completion (basically our mattress) on completion day, deliver belongings day after completion so we could prep the new house, vax the carpets etc. They also reassembled our furniture including kids cabin beds, cots etc.
3x Luton vans, army of very polite and efficient young lads all led by a chap who kept them all in line. Our role was to direct what goes where.
Thoroughly recommend packing service if you can, not only does it take away a massive ball ache particularly if you have lots of crockery/glassware etc, in our case it made the insurance more comprehensive as they are liable for the packing.
ETA - this was not only the cheapest company, but came recommended. Compared to national mover wanting around £7k like for like. National company had a base rate and charged for a raft of extras (late keys, extra insurance, ability to rearrange dates). The company we used had none of that, the flexibility was built into the base cost, we rearranged dates several times when we were finalising completion dates and it was no bother, something to look out for.

If it’s high value, why not look at whether an art specialist (or a local gallery) can remove/store/rehang for you? Sometimes stuff is just better out of the way when there are people/boxes moving everywhere, especially if people don’t realise what they’re shifting or working around.
