What cable type do virgin media use?
Discussion
I believe Virgin use Webro HD100 triple shielded cable.
You will also need a crimping tool and RG6 compression F-Connectors (the screw on ones simply will not do).

Thanks all very helpful will get a roll of the webro.
cheers
Be sure to crimp the connectors as well. The screw on ones are too lossy, and don't make a reliable enough connection.cheers
With Virgin, bad connections can cause issues not only with your own installation, but several others in your street too.

Given that there's chance they won't agree to using your own cable I'd run ducting instead - don't forget the pull wire.
If you're doing a big refurb I'd install tube in the walls rather than specific cables. You can then easily replace cables as technologies evolve.
I'd avoid installing anything that weds you to Virgin Media. Full fibre networks will hopefully kill them off.
If you're thinking about running this outside, bear in mind Virgin's new deployments are being done in fibre using RF over glass (RFoG) so burying coax outside will be useless. They use an ONT to convert the fibre to a coax presentation inside the property so they only have to maintain one type of STB and router across their estate.
