Greenfly

I have a gazebo over a hot tub in my garden and it is covered in greenfly, both inside and out.
I’m frightened to take the lid off the tub in case they all fall in.

Is there anything I can do to attract them away from the gazebo? Anything similar to the sticky strips that catch flies? I’ve read that a solution of water and soap will kill them but they’ll just re group and come back.

The otter side of my garden wall are a load of birch trees. I’m guessing the flies are being attracted to the sap off those?

Ardap. Spray onto the gazebo, no more flies. We find it usually lasts 3 months on the gazebo and in the summerhouse. I have found that wearing a respirator and goggles is a good idea when using the stuff, but it's effective.Big can lasts a couple of years.
