Bedec Barn Paint

So far, about 3/4 of the way through painting that humungous shed with Bedec. I can't say on longevity, but the paint itself seems excellent.
You will almost certainly need two coats. My original estimate was 4 cans to do two coats of the building. About 3/4 of the way through, and have 1/2 a can left. Bought another 2 cans. It's not unexpected - I certainly wasn't skimping on the paint, and it's rough sawn timber so takes a lot of paint to cover.
Do wear gloves and cover your arms etc. Even though it's water based, once it sets it's a swine to remove.
If you're painting over existing paint, wash it down with moss\green stuff killer and scrub down first, removes a lot of algae and dirt that would just make your job harder.
Don't spread it out too much, and if any paint below starts showing through, just leave it and move on, cover it in the next coat.
Bedec will send small sample cans if you ask.

It's very good - covers well but then it for bare / rough wood for the first coat.
I recently did a garage door, took it down to bare wood then used Ronseal wet wood hardener then one thinned coat and 2 top coats.
That gate will need some serious prep - I'd maybe pressure wash first then func. wash then sand?

That managers fungicidal wash looks good, its only 11.49 also, probably could just use some bleach and water sprayed on it and left for few days few times if you really want to save some money. I think you can also do vinegar and water solution but not vinegar and bleach that gets a bad chemical reaction I read.
I do like that bedec barn paint but its just pricey, wood is very different to metal since wood can expand and move otherwise I would have just washed it few times and scrubbed it clean and sanded it then cleaned it again of debri and dirty and painted with whatever shed or fence paint like Cuprinol less mess fence paint or cheapest fence paint really and just do several coats if you can across
2-3 days.
If you got the funds then fung wash + bedec paint all the way

Thanks to all for providing confirmation that it's decent stuff and the advice. I've attached a couple of images so you can see what I'm dealing with. I'm just deciding if it's worth going with Mangers fungicidal wash or covering myself in bleach solution to save a few pennies

Spray some Wet And Forget on that and it'll kill the green stuff. Will probably need a scrub or jet wash afterwards to get it properly clean for painting though.shtu said:
To be fair, it's one of the cheapest paints for the job - some of the prices in my original thread were a lot worse.
It could be worth it tbh I never tried it but 5L for £60 vs the 5L Cuprinol for £30, I just slapped on multiple coats on my fences like 7-8 layers....it will be interesting to see how long it last year wise or even how long the Bedec paint last on wood also but maybe 5 or 10 years time will find out.
