Petrol generators
Discussion
Your budget will only get a Chinese engined generator, you’d be better spending a bit more to buy one with a real Honda engine. The smallest affordable engine of any use is the Honda GX160 in a generator , this will generally give you about 2.5kw and cost around £500 before this storm.
Now there’s hardly anything left to buy, all are in short supply.

Well, what drew my attention was that I have a 2 - 3kW SDMO (SH3000 ?) and Pramac (ES4000 ?), both with Honda petrol engines (GX200 ?) and large 'overnight running' fuel tanks sitting in my garage, never used (never even filled with petrol), from around ten years ago.Now there’s hardly anything left to buy, all are in short supply.
I don't need them and have been wondering what to do with them, but would consider letting them go for a sensible price, assuming they aren't seized.
Between £200 and £400 you'll find 101 generators all with the same engine just in a slightly different frame with slightly different branding, so you have a choice: spend more on a Honda or go for the cheapest.
I took option B when replacing the missus' Genny on the grounds that if she killed the last one then she can kill a more expensive one.
£207 delivered, started easily when we had it running the other night for the first time since last winter. No complaints.

Slightly bigger version of the one I have. Can't comment if its any good as no used, its a backup for the one time of year the power goes out.
It starts easily and produces electricity, not really a lot more to say!
My mate bought a suspiciously cheap tool kit from the same company, failure rate is about 70% so far on first use.
