I've seen some reasonably priced lawn feed/sand. Unless I've got my wires crossed this sounds like it will also feed my young buxus hedge, nitrogen etc? Anyone in the know? 6 quid delivered to my door seems good value.

I have nothing to do with the ebay shop I know this could read like spam

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable will be along, but my understanding is that you don't want to use this on a bush because of the iron content. This is generally good for lawns as it kills the broad leaf weeds.

If you still want to use it on the lawn, it can be had for cheaper at B&Q(althought slightly higher concentrations). The rear of the packet can be seen here.

Cheers that's what I was worried about. The young hedge is against the lawn. I will probably just mulch around the base of the hedge. Its the first proper spring of growth after planting last year and I'm impressed with how well its growing.

And while you’re feeding your box hedge, get some XenTari and spray it - and repeat every couple of months throughout the summer until at least September.

Box tree caterpillars will destroy a box in just a few days. XenTari is the answer, but it’s best to spray the plant prophylactically to prevent the damage rather than waiting for it to happen.

Bacillus thuringiensis - biological control! And it appears to be in the retail market.

However, from https://www.amazon.co.uk/TOPBUXUS-XenTari-Professi... -

'apply XenTari once every cycle at the moment when the first caterpillars are spotted.'

Generally a biological control - ie something that eats the target organism - needs the target to be there there. As always with these things, follow the instructions smile

On the same page I see a special box tree fertiliser. No sign of NPK there but https://www.gardeningforall.co.uk/product.aspx?pro... states 12:4:16 plus magnesium, sulphur and calcium.

Meh. A decent spray inside and out with Bug Clear Ultra definitely nukes them and stops them coming back for a fair while.
