Looks like I need to replace the old garage door. I'm thinking roller so I can keep access to the loft space easier.
Any one got any recommendations for a supply and fit? Or avoids!
Based in Shropshire.

Just changed our "up and over" for a roller door, we used a local company
They did a great job, neat and tidy, well worth it
And yes, access above the door is far, far better
As I am in Cornwall it's pointless recommending (Truro Garage Doors and Automation)
The old door was heavy and the better half was starting to have problems opening it, easy now, just press a botton

Was going to suggest Andy Jordan in Church Stretton but it looks like he has closed (retired probably).

There is Arridge in Oswestry who supply and fit or just supply. Prices are good although I recall his fitting was not cheap (subs it out).

Also https://beacongaragedoors.co.uk/ who have just relocated here and had a bit of an advertisement spread in the local mag.

There's a few threads, if you done search. I'd recommend finding a product you want, then finding a supplier/installer. As with everything generally, you get what you pay for.

If you're any good with a drill and spirit level, they're not hard to install DIY. I fitted a Securoglide Excel a couple of months ago and it was pretty straightforward to do. You'll need someone to give you a hand because of the weight / bulk of the thing but broadly speaking the process was as follows:

  • Fit vertical guide rails (few bolts)
  • Fit empty motor housing / shroud (few more bolts)
  • Drop motor assembly in (slots in, few screws)
  • Wire it up (mains plug or isolator + some switches so you can spin the motor)
  • Calibrate the motor (instructions provided / on the web)
  • Drop the shutter in
  • Attach the shutter to the motor

I used Barret Garage doors based in Telford so local to you, very pleased with the job and the guys that fitted.
Everything is included apart from a rubber threshold should your floor not be level.

We've got a Securoglide Excel and it's been good for the 8 years or so it's been in. Can't help with a fitter anywhere near you though.
