If you have kids these are ideal for a bedroom or hallway, just enough light to see by if someone has to get up in middle of night without putting on main lights. If I remember they are 3 watts
Good value at £3.98, we have three of them still as good as new 5 years later, recommended.

They are light sensitive and switch on when it is dark, movement not required. It is only 3 watts so not a big drain on powerMercdriver said:

What's wrong with just getting them to sit down like a girl. No chance of missing the pan.
To be honest with you I wonder how it will all end. Energy prices are increasing along with populations but at the same time everything is being electrified - toothbrushes to closing the boot on your car. How can it go on when more and more people are getting increased access to electrification (I am thinking Third World). Even electric cars, look at how much they weigh that has to be more energy compared to a lightweight motor vehicle.

You have missed the point, it is about getting around in the dark in safety, not necessarily going to toilet.
I do not sleep very well and frequently get up in the middle of the night and read a book so I do not disturb SHMBO

Possibly yes but your eyes become accustomed to darkness after 30 minutes and unless your wife is constntly moving the furniture you soon learn where the obstacles are. I have managed to get to the toilet and other areas of the house safely for many years without the lights on.
Frequently on jobs coming in late at night or leaving early in the morning I do not have a problem working in darkness. I have also been in the bush and jungle without a 'safety' light. It is very rarely pitch black anyway. I think it was a military commander who had all his men train at night to be comfortable working in darkness. Anyway for kids maybe but for a grown man - ?? Darkness should be your friend not your enemy.

Sorry no military training and at 75 I need to be careful moving about in the dark.
