I want to create a gated area to the side of my house to put a nicer car behind. The driveway in front angles up away from the area so a swing gate is a challenge plus relatively expensive (£8k for a metal frame, composite boarded electric swing gate).

Was thinking a supported roller garage style shutter might be an idea, something like this http://www.davewalker.co.uk/images/garage-doors/Ro...

Anyone tried something similar / thoughts?

Have you thought about removable bollards?

Electric bollards would be where I’d look I think. Not cheap, but less than £8k. And won’t look horrendous like that roller might.

Want the car obscured. The frontal would sit between my house and the boundary wall so the swing gate / rolling gate would fit between the gap so less pronounced than the link I included (only example I could find)

if its just for screening purposes, then a sort of bifold door arrangement is lightweight. if for securtiy too, then add bollards.

or a couple of fence panels on wheels, with a guidetrac bar at the bottom and a couple of fence posts to hang it from.
