Property Searches for Double Garage
Discussion
Anyone know of a Rightmove type app that allows us to filter only home with double garages?
Whilst maybe a niche interest to a petrolhead, I'm surprised it's not a fundamental consideration to filter by.
Also irritated that Autotrader doesn't let me filter by "tow bar", but that's another thread

Count me in for the personal hatred towards Rightmove on behalf of petrolheads.
Went through this rigmarole myself. No 'garage' tick box. No dimensions on the garage in the floorplans (even when its internal to the house). No photos of the garage.
And the number one, top of the tree, get in the f*cking sea criminality, is when the house is listed as having a garage yet the up and over door swings open to reveal... a 2 foot deep bin store, with an awkawrdly shaped and badly lit 'playroom' / 'home gym' / 'useful office space' behind it.

I'm glad I'm not the only one with this frustration. Went through this rigmarole myself. No 'garage' tick box. No dimensions on the garage in the floorplans (even when its internal to the house). No photos of the garage.

The idea being that you will sell your beastly planet-destroying motor vehicle and buy a nice eco bicycle instead...snotrag said:

Apart from the tick box for garage none of that is really rightmove fault. It is the fault of the agents being lazy, vendors being lazy and willing to sign off the estate agents lazy crap and builders building garages that are not wide enough or deep enough for a modern car so people fill them with crap. I think the Rightmove website (via PC or other OS browser rather an app) is better than nothing, as it allows the keyword search but nothing's going to show you properties with the opportunity to create a double garage.
The website tends to throw up more properties with a double garage than not, be they not a full double garage, half converted, triangular, etc.

It’s Estate Agents as a whole who I’ve always found appear to have no interest in matching your needs up as far as Garages are concerned.
We were looking a while back and made it clear that we needed existing stables and garages or at least the ability to build them so that would possibly rule out listed or conservation areas. I was impressed when said EA asked how many horses and cars do I need to sort for you and given the answer was then less impressed when they said “ oh I assume an old car port for one car and room for one stable behind wouldn’t work ?”
For us searching via Equestrian properties often throws up garaging or at least barns but never the other way round.

Also in the same boat and have just listed my house - practically had to drag the phototgrapher into the garage to take a pic of the space and garage (integral large single and a half) was missing altogether from the first floorplan draft.
Currently in a situation where we are looking to move from our city centre terrace out to the countryside, also looking for a house with big drive/garages.
I've found that OnTheMarket is the best website for keyword searching, you can select up to 5 keywords and they're usually quite good results compared to RightMove where it's just a choice of detached/semi/bungalow etc

In fact, I want a developer to build a two bedroom house with a double garage.
Surely there is a good demand. Bring back the chalet.
