water leaks and compensation

I've had a leak which has stained my apartment which has been caused by a bad design of the cladding on the exterior of the building (new build, built in 2013)
it's taken 8 years to resolve but finally the contractor has idenfiied the problem and fixed it (at a fairly large expense to them as it was time consuming and they had to outsource it to a specialist after being unable to diagnose the issue themselves)
there's a lot of stains and rott on the skirtings and other areas so i'm expecting/demanding my apartment to be re-decorated at a minimum
my question is though am I entitled to compensation after nearly a decade of suffering window leaks and looking at horrible stains every day!
