Best Charcoal BBQ
Discussion
This has probably been asked a lot but couldn't find a suitable thread, feel free to point me if there is one. Thoughts on best charcoal bbq's? I currently have a 12 year old Weber classic kettle. Other than the same, what do people recommend? Not looking for anything with gas or electric so no wood pellet grills please. Budget not a massive issue but £1500 tops really.
Thanks

tbh i feel you can have best BBQ in the world and still cook a s
t burger. i believe its all in the skill of the chef and the choice of coals etc.
i use the "restaurant grade Big K" charcoal and its amazing stays hot for a lot longer than friend cheap ass coal. i was told to get this by another BBQ thread.
i use natural firelighters too and have a £140 costco kettle one (cheap weber)
Perhaps stick with the weber and watch some youtube videos to make the most of it , and more importantly just get out there and grill some stuff!

I do find to run a good BBQ you need a decent amount of fuel so

Do you get this online?
Landmann are fairly decent BBQs.
I have the Taurus 660 but they have better ones.

Main feature is dual charcoal trays that can be raised or lowered independently to ensure the desired heat remains constant as the fuel burns, allowing a hot side and a less hot side

Quality is pretty good too.

If you are not looking to do any low and slow cooks then you cannot beat a weber kettle. Lots of great accessories, and well made.
If you are doing low and slow, then the ceramic "egg" style bbq's will beat the weber as they will hold the heat more consistently.
With that budget, I would buy a couple of different size bbq's that can be used dependent on the quantity you are cooking for.
Right now I have a 57cm Weber kettle, Hellrazr Yama and a small Konro. I use all three regularly dependent on how many I'm cooking for/ what I am cooking.

I have one of those £70 barrel BBQs and its just fine. Key thing is to set up 2 zone grilling and cook with the lid down, I use a BBQ mat to do any veg, prawns or small bits that might fall through the grill at the end. If you want to add flavoured wood chips just get a smoker box and chuck in in with the coals.
you will improve your cooking with a good BBQ book rather than a fancy BBQ.

Onlyfire make some useful additions for the Weber Kettle. I have the Smoker and Santa Maria Rotisserie, I find both really good and extends it's ability.

Lotus grill user here, fast heat up time due to the inbuilt fan in the base, and uses very little coals , can get at least 5 cooks out of one of those instant light bags I used to use in my main BBQ.
Highly portable so use it on the beach when away, come in various sizes, medium is ok for 3 to 4 , anything more then you'll need the bigger version, or another make.

I replaced a 17 year old Weber kettle with a new Weber kettle and have no regrets.
My old one had a built-in metal table and four wheel trolley, but rather than spend the extra to get a small table I just bought the standard Weber bbq and built it in to a bespoke wooden trolley. I was inspired by this thread - mine is towards the end. This pic was when new, but three years on it is still going strong.

Kamado / BGE etc are all well and good, but I am happy with the Weber. It cooks all I want to cook with no problem, from burgers and sausages to whole chickens (3 at a time fit easily), big cuts of meat etc. I've also do pizza in it, which is easy and gives brilliant results.
