Not quite sure why you wanted to share the rather non-story in SP&L though.

Apologies my bad.

I’m sure you’ll get over it.

Odd.

My last 5 houses (that's nearly all of them) had cesspits - there's a mild whiff when they're emptied once every year, but it's momentary.

As to the planning, no idea! Tricky/foolish to build something without it when you live cheek by jowl with other properties.

I wonder if Mr Levesconte was a bull's-eye winner in the 80s?

Loads of houses around here have cess pits, in fact I can hear one being emptied now! The tanker creates a vacuum in its tank by sucking the air out, so it can blow some interesting smells around, but anyone who is "trapped in their house" by it needs to get a grip, give their head a wobble, etc laugh

It's Carbery Avenue, which is a pretty nice road with lots of larger, older houses on it.
The puns the Echo 'reporter' managed to get in the article .... rolleyes

Surely the "pp" explains the need for the loo in the first place, no?

Are you sure? Most place "off grid" have a septic tank which is a very different beast to a cess pit.

They are actually a relatively similar beast, only difference is that a septic tank leaches in to the ground whilst a cess pit doesnt.

To the poster below who said he'd a cess pit and only got it emptied once a year, then I think you are mixing them up.

Our cesspit is full every 6 weeks and needs emptying at a huge cost - it does absolutely stink when we, or adjacent houses, have them emptied.

Odd that he didnt just use a macerator type solution and lift it into the drains of the house.

Yes, rural but some houses have enough land for a soakaway.
