Disgusting Neighbours
Discussion
I'm ranting. Because I'm f
king fed up of it.
I live quite possibly in the most disgusting street in London, where people show no regard for where they live.
Daily there's mounds of s
t that look as though it's formed from the back of an elephant. We know who the culprits are, but the council aren't interested in investigating. The dogs in question are allowed to run up and down the street without leads.
Every day, there's three to five kids riding their bikes in the middle of the road, who fail to get out of the way for cars. They ride aimlessly to the point their dad yells at them to "mind the cars". Even then, they drive off, flittering around the junction at the end of the road, causing panic to unsuspecting oncoming cars. These kids are between 6 to 10 years old.
There's a house that leaves an ungodly amount of rubbish outside their house. But not their front garden, just discarded on the pavement. It's blocks the pavement so much, people walk into the road to get round. They boast, that they do this as someone will complain and the council come and take for free.
There's a car that pisses oil when parked up and has turned the kerbside road black with their patches of oil, not to mention its parked over a drain, so God knows what that does.
Fed up of it. What the f
k is wrong with people?

It's annoying, but true. What's frustrating is, the next road along, peaceful. Road behind, peaceful.
Our street just seems to be quagmire of knuckle-dragging, intellect-lacking morons. It shouldn't be me that has to move. There should be a farm for these sorts of people.

This. The amusing part is that you could probably buy a four bed detached house in a nice part of Yorkshire for what people pay for a studio flat in s

It's so true. The amusing part is that you could probably buy a four bed detached house in a nice part of Yorkshire for what people pay for a studio flat in s
tholes like the above in London. My partner has lupus and grew up in this area, so easier for her to drop the little one off to school, be close to friends and family and everything is on our doorstep.
But convenience aside, London is a disgrace. I pay 1.6k in rent a month for a house (which in the grand scheme of things, is now £400 cheaper than the going rate) and for what? An easy commute? I barely go into the office anymore.
Every time I venture outside of London, I long for somewhere where I can just have peace and endless green fields. Sadly, the OH will never go for it, as she can't drive and needs the convenience and doesn't want to have the little one move schools and be away from family.
London is f
ked. Someone once told me, London nowadays is either a place for the absolute poor, or the absolute rich. The in-between have no business living there and I kind of understand that a little now.Portofino said:
Scum everywhere these days, breeding like rabbits so the cycle of scum continues & gets worse.
I’ve no idea how some live like they do.
Right? Why is it that they breed like there's no tomorrow?I’ve no idea how some live like they do.
One house on our street mimics the Daily Mail portrayal of these families. 4 kids. XL Bully. Neither parent working, but both fit and capable. Holding parties in the garden during the day, on a weekday. The old man walks around without a shirt all the time. Kids run around in the street barefoot (after having a bath too, which I can't understand).
My OH wants another child. I have to consider every fiscal aspect before making such a decision. There's a ton consider and with the cost of things now, and the fact we don't own our house yet, it's horrible to say no, we genuinely can't afford it.
These folk? "Leave it in love. It'll be fine"
its an age old thing isn't it - I'm from the North East, but have been in London (and/off) since 1997.
We do live in a nice road..........but you don't have to go far to see the s
t, and the scumbags.
I'm super keen to move - but can't even get like for like these days in places like Devon.
I don't want to go back North. Little village in Devon, with a garage big enough for a car or two, and maybe 5 bikes.......
the dream and plan.
Added complexity now that I have a young son, and there is no f
kING way he is going to school in London. So I have about 3 years to get out of dodge.

Do it before he starts school. The emotions behind tearing him away from friends is something I really don't think any parent should have to witness. I'd be racked with guilt. We do live in a nice road..........but you don't have to go far to see the s

king football into my car on the street. I bought an ST-3 last month. A week after having it, the local shops van, decided to park it in my rear seats. They didn't even bother to move it after I confronted them. No damage, sort of, the rear bumper clips look like they've come off a little, but it's the audacity and lack of care anyone has anymore.Just pure scum and worse it's getting.

yeah thanks man - that is the plan. My niece moved schools at 6 (in the same area, just more convenient) and I witnessed it - she was gutted. But the houses I see, that I can buy, even in Kent, just look so much more appealing. Kent is still super expensive. There are tricks to the system (I am biased) - but using motorbikes means I can avoid the great unwashed on the loser cruisers and the TFL scamming trains. So, don't need to be close to a station - which really really helps on the not getting ripped off.
Where you are (actually reasonably close to me) you have access to the Lizzy Line - which to be fair to them is one of the less s
t TFL efforts.I'm not sure Devon is far enough away from London for me - but we have picked out a school down there which is lovely, it's just the usual family considerations in London, and work etc - realistically I'll be hybrid down there so the boy can go to a non stabby school

The solution seems to be a relatively simple one. GTFO
That's the easy route. Not the solution.Edited by JackJarvis on Tuesday 10th October 11:49
I'm being deliberately cantankerous, but the solution would be to show consequence to the delinquents on the street, for their actions. That's what I'd love to happen anyways.
Moving is so much harder than it sounds. Rent elsewhere, even down the road, will cost us at least another £300 a month. Not to mention, there's no guarantee it'll be better. And my OH needs to be relatively nearby for the schools.
I just wish we had old fashioned police patrols.

My current job is the first in nearly 10 years where I've had to use public transport to get into London Bridge. Every job before that has been a driving commute and I would much rather have that back again. I did a motorbike for a year when I worked for one of the two North London Premier League clubs (
) and was great until you had to navigate the Blackwall Tunnel play roulette on who wasn't going to use their indicators or see you in their mirrors when they changed lanes! I hate public transport with a passion and would love to find a job where I can drive to again. Just makes life a hell of a lot easier.Nowhere is far enough away from London IMO! But Devon has a nice way of life about it. I have family down there. I wouldn't think twice if an opportunity to move down there came up.
