Anyone got any insight into why you can’t buy this from places like screwfix etc

No, but I bought some of the diall brand from there yesterday just fine. Didn't look at the 3m stuff as it was almost twice the price from memory.

Cheers

I had diall stuff before and it was awful, but my dad swears by it. Must have got a duff batch

I use an awful lot of the stuff you see

What do you do with it all...

?!
Hostages mostly

Lots and lots of diy at the mo, but I specifically use it for bundling equipment going in and out to stop numpties helping themselves to extra bits and not taking entire sets

I found the 3m stuff good because it’s very stretchy and doesn’t leave a residue

You may be jesting, but being a spark I always take a roll of electrical tape wherever I go, never been an issue till the Mrs was stopped at canberra and had a roll confiscated from her carry on!

There's a shortage due to the amount used to build electric cars.

I bought the Super 33+ and it's very good stuff, apparently it's 7 mil thickness, the 88 is 8.5.
£10 a 20m roll at CPC: https://cpc.farnell.com/3m/black-33/scotch-super-3...

The Diall stuff is ok, but it does need to be warm. It's quite brittle to use at anything below body temperature, so sticking a couple of rolls in your trouser pockets before starting the job can help.
Or just get the heat gun out.

Dave.

Screwfix shows availability to click and collect on 3m electrical tape at all my local stores, although not all are showing for delivery

Got some dial stuff in the end, not in the same league as the 3m stuff sadly

I messaged and asked a question to Screwfix, I then got a message saying the item was invalid and the black stuff has was removed from the site

3M is the best for most things like this.

Fortunately I don't use much and have a few fairly full rolls!
