Hi all,

I wonder if anyone has had a similar experience and may be able to help.

I have the above handheld hoover which has been working perfectly for 6 months or so - I use it largely for quick drops around the house and car. I used it one evening and the filter was fairly dirty so followed the instructions and took it off, washed it out under some warm water and left to dry. Put it all back together and since then the hoover switches on, powers up but no suction at all. So i now have a loud noise device which doesn't do anything. I cannot see how following the instructions for cleaning the filter could have stopped any suction (and all pipes are unblocked, nothing in there at all.

I've raised a warranty case with Dewalt but if anyone has experienced something similar i would be interested to hear.

Model for reference;

Any suction with the filter not fitted?
If so, then the washing has somehow blocked the filter.

It may be just me but if something is working well before I do something and is not working afterwards then I assume it's down to me rather than the machine.

There is a good YouTube vid on taking this machine apart, cleaning and reassembly.

If I was a betting man I would put money on the seal for the filter, perhaps even use some silicon grease in the reassembly.

Thank you. I agree that the only thing that has changed between it working and not working is the rinse of the filter. It has 2 pictures on top of the filter and a write up in the manual which confirms a rinse under warm water is suggested as the best cleaning.

No suction with filter on or off which is what made me start to wonder if its more than just the washing of the filter. Fair point re the grease when reattaching the filter. I'll try that.

Having looked at this again the filter just clicks in and out with a small clockwise turn to lock in. Will have to wait for Dewalt warranty - as its in warranty i'll refrain from taking it apart :-)

Having spent hours looking at the filter ive just removed and reattached the hose and now its working again. Can only think it was creating a gap somewhere! Happily resuming my job of hoovering up crumbs from the car seats and needles from the non-drop tree....

How do you find this vacuum generally?

I've already plenty of Dewalt batteries and find "domestic" cordless vacuums to lack any real power or durability and end up wheeling the Henry+extension outside for the car. No desire to spend 400 quid on a Shark/Dyson etc.
