We had a roof lantern installed in an extension last year - everything has been fine until the recent stormy winds where when there is a strong gust you can hear what I’d describe as the wind buffeting around it.

There are no obvious drafts, or other noises (whistling, banging etc).

As lanterns sit 10 to 15cm above the roof on an up-stand it it may be normal - does anyone else get any noise from their lanterns in high winds?

WTF is a "roof lantern"? Whereabouts on your car is it fitted? Obviously "the roof", but where exactly?

Double bonus points if it's on an orangery!

Yep, stick something with corners into a strong wind and guess what. If it's a nuisance how about trying deflectors on the roof?

We don't, but I wouldn't read too much into that as every installation will be different in terms of facing direction, other structures nearby etc. If there's no sign of the wind coming in then it doesn't sound like there's an installation issue, assuming of course everything looks okay from the outside in terms of it all being complete, nothing obviously not secured in place etc. What make is it (ours is a Korniche)?

hehe More helpfully for the OP, it may be worth experimenting with vortex generators, which might be nothing more than bits of plastic or aluminium sheet stuck to the corners.
