Currently having a bit of a garage tidy up and would like to improve the lighting.

I have 2 old fluorescent strip lights at the moment for a garage of approx 7 meters x 3.5.

Are there any drop in LED replacement tubes that will fit into the existing fittings or is it best to start from scratch?

There are plenty of drop-in replacements available. Do the fittings have starters?

Replacing the tubes for LED will reduce energy consumption and gives you options for crisper light, but won't really improve the output or the spread of light.

They have starters yes.

So new LED tubes won't be any brighter than my current set up then?

May be time to just replace and add some more then I reckon.

Any brands to look out for at all?

You can get replacement LED tubes but it might be better to replace the fitting.

Off topic but I see you've could a couple of nice Birds in your garage!

Put up perhaps 4 x 4t (different lengths available): https://www.toolstation.com/integral-led-compact-e...

I've got 6 x 4ft versions in a double and they give a good temp light with good coverage.

I'd go for light panels rather than batterns in that space.

4 (or 6) of something like this would give you a much more even light and throw way less shadows.

https://panelhut.co.uk/products/40w-600-x-600-surf...

The two 70W T8 tubes currently installed have an output of 6300lm each so 12600lm total. Four of the LED panels linked above (or similar) will give you a total of 15200lm and a much nicer spread of light.

I would just put up some of the Lap twin led ones from screwfix in, they are excellent light wise and literally night and day.

I thought i'd add to this thread rather than start a new one.

I have 4x6ft led battens fitted in the garage, all are the screwfix lap versions & 3 of the 4 are now flickering badly & have dark patches where the leds have failed.

I had one of these fitted at my old house, brilliant but I don't fancy spending 400 quid! -

Any recommendations for decent replacements?

Phillips used to have a very good reputation but i couldnt say for certain whos good these days.
I usually buy all my stuff from Tlc direct and it seems decent quality.

If you are fiddling with the fittings, I always recommend a PIR on a timer with a three way switch (timed, off, permanently on). Makes life so much easier

I bought these to replace some old fluorescent tubes:

I went a little overboard and bought 4!

Lovely bright lights, but expensive if I forget to switch off!!!
