Wheelie bins then, if you keep yours against a wall or fence, which way round do you put it? Handle against the wall or t’other way round? I’m in the former camp so I can lean the lid against wall rather than fold it back on itself. Granted it is slightly harder to pull out away from the wall if it’s really heavy but my powerfully built PH frame copes. What camp are you in?

Very important question this.

I have mine with the handle facing the wall but about 6 inches away from the wall, that way I can lift the lid and have it resting on the wall.

Handle against the wall - ease of use for opening, vs. once a week when it’s slightly more of a faff to move it out of its initial place.

Sideways to the wall but at a slight angle so the lid doesn't fall all the way behind the bin.

Handle against the wall. But! When I put them out, I helpfully place them handle outward.

Handle to the fence, of course!

You mean that there is a different way?

I have a dedicated, 1 acre field just for the wheelie bins, each with their own hard standing. They are open from all sides, so no way round.

Handle to the wall... unless... it's very windy in which case I sometimes turn it around, in my head it feels like there's less chance of the lid blowing open.

Is the correct answer. Anything else is just weird.

Our wheelie bins get collected every 2 weeks, so pulling the bin away from the wall to grasp the handle every 2 weeks isn't exactly a chore.

Same.

When I put them out I leave them handle towards the road for easy access for the bin men. I assumed this was 'correct' but noticed that most other people in the road leave them handles in.

You’re doing it right, I reckon.

Handle facing the wall for sure.

Ref handle towards bin men, I expect for the people that leave it the wrong way (handle facing house not road) it would depend on if you are a pusher or a puller of the bin, which is much more controversial!

What on earth is wrong with you people? Handles/wheels facing out at all times!!!

Turning it around 180 degrees is a movement that adds zero value.

Why do you need to prop the lid against a wall? Just open it fully!
