Quick question for those of you with pool tables in your garage, do you have any issues with damp/table warping?

For context it’s a standard single skin double garage, insulated roller doors and boarded out loft after with insulation, has a mobile dehumidifier and 2 x 800w infrared heating panels mounted on the ceiling.

I was planning a 7ft pub style Supreme table but could get one of the tables designed to go outside if I’m likely to have issues?

My mate has got one in an unheated double garage. The garage is mostly integral so will have a level of warmth. The table has been fine and I reckon it’s been in place for 8 years.

We had one growing up in an unheated outbuilding which was fine but the playing surface was slate I think? Are modern ones not the same?

Thanks Simon, sadly mine is completely detached from the house so doesn’t benefit from that.

I’m only considering a slate table but it will have a wooden frame, I believe the outside ones are steel/treated wood frames.

You could try tube heaters (used on boats over winter).

Thanks, I’ll have a look, I hoped the infrared heaters that are on thermostats would be sufficient but I could put something directly under the table.

I think with the thermostatic heaters and dehumidifier it's probably a better environment for keeping it than many pubs/old houses!

Fears allayed, table ordered, garage complete!

You should at least consider a high wall heat pump for heating, much cheaper to run than any other electrical heaters.

In an ideal world of course the best solution would be underfloor heating, with a heat pump.

Warming the air does nothing for a cold concrete floor.

My dad has a 3/4 size slate bed, wooden frame snooker table in the garage. The garage it totally detached from the house and is single skin etc.

Its been fine, only thing he does is run a dehumidifier in the corner of the garage.

I'll see how I get on this first winter, If needs be I could move to a wall heat pump solution if needed.
