Can anyone help identify this?

Renovating a commercial unit at the minute and removal of a built in shelf has uncovered this.

There is no gas and on lifting the floor the other side of the partition where the pipe is buried reveals an open end to the pipe.

Initial thoughts were to bury it by raising the floor level but having seen the open end I’d like to cut it out if possible.

The previous occupant clearly just built the shelve over it and ignored it.
Unless you desperatly need the space. I would do much the same.

Can you use it in any way? Conduit for something?
If not then remove it and get a level floor. That way it removes it as a factor for any future plans/changes.

..just a note of caution with the red screed - it looks like Magnesite, which can contain asbestos
