Although I’ve been over my decking twice, it still has a green hue to it.

It’s composite, I’ve probably left it too long.

I’ve tried the usual cleaners, plus I’ve tried bleach, which has worked better than the bought algae cleaners. I’ve scrubbed it with a stiff broom while still wet, but I don’t have a jet washer, how much difference would one make?

A jet wash wont remove any more than a good scrub with a stiff brush and detergent. It’s just easier over large areas.

A small area of our composite has discolored due to over exposure to algae and general muck.

I did manage to get 90% back to original with a cream cleaner (Cif or similar) and a good scrub. Just be careful not to over scrub and damage the surface.

I know you said you've tried algae cleaners - do you mean something like Wet & Forget?

If so, have you left it long enough (as in weeks) to act?

Might be stating the obvious, but it's always worked for me on any surface I've tried it on.

And have you left it till it's dry before application?

Yes, a wet and forget type product.

So it might take weeks before I see any change?

I doubt it on a non porous surface like composite.

As I said earlier, have you properly scrubbed it? This will give you an idea whether its surface detritus or something deeper. If it’s discolored it won’t change an awful lot without a cutting compound.

Yes, it takes a while as it needs to 'weather'.

You put it on when the surface is dry (as mentioned above) and when it's not going to rain until the product has had time to dry, too. Then you just leave it alone.

I have usually seen some improvement after a few days but it's expected to need a good week or 2 to properly do the job.

Wet and forget, is just diluted bac50. Bac50 is not nasty at all. Don't drink it for sure, but it's unlikely to harm you. It's often used in hand sanitiser.
