Mrs Mo has been after a small plot to try her hand at growing food / flowers etc.

Our project begins here

Spent a couple of hours weeding

How do we identify what type of apple tree this is?

Next years crop could come in very handy for homebrew.

Exciting!

Recommend you look at Charles Dowdens no dig method and get some cardboard and compost down (bulk order) if you can - it'll make it FAR more manageable next year.

Could be done in spring, but don't let it get away from you... like I do half the time, and regret it.

I would dig it all up and get a decent layer of manure dug in over the winter ready for planting in spring.

Get your compost heap spot prepared.

Red apples are usually more eating apples than cooking apples as a rule of thumb.

Thanks folks

We have now de-weeded the lot
Turned all beds over
Cardboard and composted
Tarped the planters and generally tidied it up

Next jobs will be new fencing and a new shed / greenhouse

We're planning on not doing much else until it gets to Feb/March when we can get planting

Needs the weeds out first surely, digging in all the weed seeds not a good idea.
But agree, a fresh start, lift the flags etc and new beds.

Slow progress

The weeds are mares / horse tail a real invasive thing so we have spent a lot of time pulling that up where we can.

Path slabs are now the same size they just need levelling at the top.

Strawberries, onions, carrots and pumpkins are all growing.

We have decided that after this summer we are taking all the beds down, taking more weeds out and starting with a blank canvas and laying it out how we want it to look.

Facebook came in handy for free slabs
