I want to draw out the floor plan of a few rooms in my house to try and figure out what to do with the layout going forward.

Is there a good website (free!) that will do this?

I had a look on google but they seem to be pretty basic. I guess I want a cad lite type of solution.

Cheers.

https://floorplanner.com/ is great, once you get used to it. Free too!

As an Autocad / Revit / Fusion user for over 20 years, you disgust me!

I did conceptual orthographic projections for a Steading conversion in Excel. Am still playing with layouts for another one. And actual planning drawings for an agricultural shed rofl

I spent years working with Autocad (r13 it was so long ago!) but I don’t have a copy any more.

Not to "one up" I think it was r12 I started on at college.... But was 2004 when I started getting paid to do it thumbup

I've had schematics sent to me in excel previously, to be fair they do look pretty good as you can set the spacing to be identical between items/floors.

Much better than stty Bluebeam stuff I get sent sometimes!

It’s “maybe” one step better than square paper and some felt pens.

How do you do a floorplan with excel? (Assuming you mean the microsoft spreadsheet program?).

I did a rough one recently - basically created squared paper. Select all cells & set the column width to IIRC 2.5 and it was close enough. I used 1 square =10cm and everything was straight lines using borders for the cells.

Not the best tool, but I already had Excel and I didn't have any squared paper. You can also scale the printout to fit to a specified number of pages.

HomeByMe seems to work. I've also been able to use the LIDAR scanner on my phone to recreate my house...which is quite handy.
