Buying tools in the USA
Discussion
Hi all,
Am hoping that the PH hive mind may be able to help with this. I am working with a colleague in the US to kit out a small data centre workspace. He came over to see our setup in the UK and amusingly the thing he was most impressed by was our toolbox . We have one similar to this:
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tool-Tools-Drawer-Roller-...
Which is a roller cab with the tools included and the foam inserts to hold them all in place.
Neither of us can find a similar product in the USA (via the Internet) - other than ones that cost several thousand dollars. We are looking for something in the $500-$1000 range. Anyone have any ideas?

It may be that you won't find stuff on the UK interweb, for sale in the US, that you can find easily on the interweb in the US?
I hesitated to post this 'cos you mentioned 'data centre' so you probably know more than me about this kind of thing, but my personal experience is that everything that can be bought, can be bought in the US&A, and the interweb is oddly good at hiding that from the rest of the world.
Ironic that it's USpro tools....
Try sears, Harbour Freight......?

Harbor Freight (note spelling), are the company often mentioned in American videos and articles about projects of all types. I can't see any fully equipped roller cabinets, however sets of tools in cases are listed.

Thanks, I did think it might be my location hiding things, but have also been trying with a VPN to the US and he has been looking locally but no joy. Agreed on the US Pro tools (I quite like them) that we are struggling to find in the US!I hesitated to post this 'cos you mentioned 'data centre' so you probably know more than me about this kind of thing, but my personal experience is that everything that can be bought, can be bought in the US&A, and the interweb is oddly good at hiding that from the rest of the world.

I live in the states. Tools are generally more readily available here because there's a bigger market for them (In that everyone has a garage so they have a place for a tool cabinet like this and more people tend to have the means to wrench on their cars).
You can find toolboxes like this at every high street at a place called Harbor Freight. You won't find it at that price though with all the tools included.

I can't tell what the dimensions of this tool box is but typically tool boxes here are much larger and that size is left for tool carts that you bring to your lift with just the tools that you need for the job.
As the box tool box is called 'US Pro tools', it's clear to me that it's made in the far east which is pretty much the same place every other tool is made these days unless you're buying top tier brands. At 500GBP, it looks like great value for anyone wanting a starter kit as long as the quality of the tools themselves is good.
Lowes and Home Depot which are like B&Q on steroids also have a comprehensive selection of tools.
