Home Insurance whilst building work is being carried out
Discussion
My home insurance renewed yesterday and I have an extension starting next month.
When I called to let them know about the building work (as per the requirement within the policy documents) they said that they couldn't continue to insure the house during the works and have refunded the full policy.
Can anyone recommend an insurer who will insure whilst building work is going on?
We are living in the property during construction works

I've never know this to be a problem - the JCT Contract provides a number of options and it's usually insurance by the Employer in joint names. I always tell the client to notify their insurers and have never known them to make a charge not least to cancel the policy - is it a budget insurer?
I would try NFU.

We've been with policy expert since we moved here.I would try NFU.
Do i now need to declare that we have had insurance cancelled?
(The insurance has only just been renewed so the full year was cancelled)
ive just spoken to the mortgage company who are providing part of the funds towards the extension.
they gave a quote for our renewal a few weeks back and they have just confirmed that their policy will cover us for the value of the building works as its under £100k.
So hopefully can switch to them.
