Built a nice 3 bay garage a few years ago but never quite got it finished how I wanted it, namely getting it plastered and the lights put up.

Size is 9 meter wide 6 deep set in 3 open bays.

Was originally first fixed for 3 LED batons per bay IE 9 in total, now thinking on changing it to 3 of these bling’y hexagon lights.

Done a search but man it’s a midfield from dodgy looking website, to Amazon and AliExpress all with differing prices.

So my questions are this.

Looking at the below photo,

Anyone purchased/ used them any recommendations?

Would 3 of these light up the garage ok

Presumably that photo has been processed to death as otherwise that garage looks very dark which isn't a great advertisement for the lighting.

I’ve fancied these but had these concerns that it is more decorative than practical.

I’ve been looking at these as well. So far my conclusion has been that even if you find a half reputable supplier in the UK they’re still getting them from the same crappy distributor in China. If it was branded Philips or something decent I’d get get them but I don’t really trust any of them. I’ll be going for LED tubes.

You might want to watch a recent PetrolPed video as part of his garage build series, as he did most of an episode talking about lighting. Whilst it was in effect an advert for the company he used, it did give some useful information about the risks of ‘cheap’ imported hexagon lighting, such as lack of earthing IIRC.

Or the camera has exposed for the highlights, which is what they normally do.

I don't see the point of it TBH; the reflections on the car would be horrible.

Many thanks all for the replies

Still on the fence, did watch the Petrolped vid, still not really convinced paying the extra is worth it say over the Amazon ones.

Will have a think on a bit more

I've got the same size garage and went through the same thought process.

In the end changed all the batons for LED 'battens'.

Think I've got 6, 2 above each bay, completely transformed the lighting, much brighter.

I've also got a pair LED industrial lights over the work table in one of the bays. Picture was taken in November with the garage doors closed.

I've got 600mm x 600mm led panels. You can get some very bright ones. I've fitted 4 in a double garage, and an led light batten above the engine bay for extra light where I park the car
