Composite deck vs patio
Discussion
We’re almost finished an extension to our house and have patio doors leading into the garden,
I’d intended to put a deck outside the doors as the utility room door is in the same area, and i like building decks.
However I’m concerned about how slippery a deck may be. We have a couple of wooden decks, they’re a bit slippery when wet and lethal if it’s frosty. We’re in NE Scotland and its West facing.
Is composite decking much better than wooden or are slabs a safer solution?
It’s a decent sized area and will need to be dug out more if i go with a patio.

I replaced my old wooden decking with composite decking las summer, and i can confirm that the composite decking is just as lethal when it is frosty.I’d intended to put a deck outside the doors as the utility room door is in the same area, and i like building decks.

It's not as bad as wood when it is damp, as there is no algae/biofilm growing on it like you get with wood.
