Decorative beam removal

Our new gaff has (built 2009) is full of features befitting a remote Welsh farmhouse - which is lovely, but we live in the south east in the 'burbs. Stone floors, exposed brick and so on
We have inherited a hand made oak kitchen, complete with brick stove inglenook and a massive oak beam and pillar right in the middle
It's completely impractical for a family of 6 as there is little storage, so unfortunately the whole lot needs to go
The beam is approx. 200mm square and in 2 parts 2.5 and 3.5m long, Not structural, merely decorative
Questions are ...
1. How heavy is this likely to be? Thinking we'll need some kind of beam lifter to lower it down
2. How do we cut it? Chainsaw?
3. Does it have any value? It was probably a load of money when it was installed

1. At a very rough estimate (assuming it is solid) the total weight will be around 80kg.1. How heavy is this likely to be? Thinking we'll need some kind of beam lifter to lower it down

2. Depends how it is attached to the ceiling. I wouldn't use a chainsaw in the house (especially above head level), there's a strong possibility of causing significant damage.
3. If is solid then someone will want it. If they are able to take it down (and you are happy for them to do it) I personally would let them have it for free. If you get it down in two good pieces then I'd start with 150 quid.
