Can you check what wood i have for my upstand

Hey all,

Have an existing iroyo worktop and upstand. I'm adding a new bit and ordered some more. Oiled it today with osmo but I reckon the upstand is a different wood as the pateener is nothing like the rest amd the co,our far too light. Any way I can confirm?

I've emailed the company but unlikely to get a response before Monday.

Images of new oiled worktop and new oiled upstand next to another piece I array had, again freshly oiled.

Yeah I agree but whenever you look on worktop sites they are always darker than the wood database.

Wood is variable in colour at the best of times and sometimes highly variable - eg whether it's sapwood or heartwood. It can also change with exposure to light over time - walnut gets lighter, some light woods get darker.

In your case the dark wood does look like iroko or similar; the light wood might possibly be but certainly looks wrong in context. The seller may say 'wood is a natural variable product, tough'. If so you could consider staining it to get a better match.
