Looking for a new boiler recommendation to replace our aging gas boiler

70s built semi 3 bed with shower fed directly off the boiler 9 radiators to bed ran off it

Would rather pay a bit more for something decent and reliable than going cheap and cheerful

Our boiler guy likes Ideal and Vaillant in terms of durability and simplicity.

Also reckons avoiding Arisiton.

More expensive boilers seem to be more complex and more features rather than more reliable.

I'm a fan of KISS

Worcester Bosch always seem to get good reviews, ours is still going strong after 16 years (touch wood).

My last one was a Worcester in my old house that died far too many times. I think 5-6 times call out in warranty

In the house that I renovated last year and downsized to fitted Valliant through BG on 0% for 4 years .. a year down the line and all good so far. Is a 4 bed 2 bath house with rads everywhere. Silent and efficient would be my view so far

I had a troublesome boiler, so I asked every engineer which was the boiler they seldom had trouble with.

The answers were always Vaillant & Worcester Bosch.

I've bought both in the last few years (different houses) and so far so good.

Strangely my Boiler guy recomnended Ariston.
Its almost like they recommend what they are used to working on.

I have an 8 year old Ariston thats had 1 part replaced under warranty after about 5 years and has worked flawlessly.
It has a 13 year warranty and a wifi thermostat.

Always thought Bosch was very good and it was, decided to replaced our 16 year old boiler with new gas one before millican brings another ludicrous rule.

Asked our plumber which one he recommended and he did say Bosch have a good reputation but valiant are just as good, at the moment, and cheaper to buy. Think it is like TV’s the one to buy today may not be the one to buy in three months.

We have taken his advice and well pleased with it.

How long are you going to stay in the house? Family moving out? Downsizing? Consider all the options.

Ask your plumber his recommendation he knows the area, the hardness of the water etc and what the service is like in the area from the boiler manufacturer

From my own experience over many years in different homes I don’t think you can go far wrong with Vaillant, WB or Ideal.

Pound for pound you can’t really beat Baxi, decent warranty and decent backup. Mine never had a single issue in 14 years, I’ve just fitted a Main to a flip, also reliable and cheap, (same boilers more or less) On most occasions I’ve come across a WB in a flip, it’s gone in the skip, none of the plumbers I use will touch them as the internals are cheap, local authorities use them as they get them for peanuts.
