Why do the binmen leave my bin in front of my drive?

I live on a cul-de-sac. My property has around 20 feet of pavement in front. I place my bin in this area. After its been emptied its always placed in front of my driveway instead.
Neighbours all have similar setups. No one else on the cul-de-sac has their bin returned over their drive after its had been emptied.
Bin is always placed handle side facing the road
Is there some other binman 'code' I'm falling foul of? Tired of having to get out of the car to move it when I get home

To try and tempt you to put it away properly? Rather than it staying in the road blocking the pavement for a few days.
If you are like me, you are probably more likely to do a half assed job of rehousing the bin when in a hurry to get in and unleash the bowel monster you have been cultivating all day, but hay ho.
Or they have a shedload of houses to do, and some petty middle manager is riding the trucks staff about efficiency or targets, so dump and move on to the next one.

Case of cooking larger would probably go a long way to help. We give ours a case at xmas, and the postie. Depends on the crew, they get rotated round here, we have a long frontage.
Mainly as above depends on the driver, sometimes driver stops ,metres away from where the bin is, guy puts it on the machine but leaves it where the wagon has stopped, maybe 3 or 4 metres from where it started, and because there's no pavement sometimes it's a couple of foot in to the road.
Another crew had the operator chucking the bin back in to the drive entrance, as the OP states, now I can't open the electric gates because the bin is blocking the safety beam.
