Copper guttering - bad idea?

Zinc is cheaper if your looking for something different
We put zinc on a place we built. Looks exactly the same now as it did 10 years ago. Copper was considered but ruled out due to theft concerns. Just had a load of cast iron put on a conversion and it looks really good. Expensive, but worth every penny. Some of the cast effect stuff isn’t bad, but the real thing is just in a different league.
Ive used aluminium on our house ….. it wasn’t cheap compared to upvc but I’m really happy with it.
Went with the box gutter and fixed straight on to the fascia to avoid any brackets.
You can have it powder coated any colour or raw aluminium. Fitted it myself and is simple to do.
It was from a place called APC.

Really like that idea. No visible fixings is a game changer. Very neat.Went with the box gutter and fixed straight on to the fascia to avoid any brackets.

Damn - we only redid our roof 18 months ago!
Tidy job too.
Copper gutter is excellent, the weakness is the joints, which would normally be soldered.
There may be some new fangled jointing system nowadays, but I’ve only ever had soldered systems installed (Heritage Contracts)
The solder will let go long before the gutter, so take that into account.

Not sure this helps , but I have wanted copper guttering for my house since I bought it , the cost was too much.
I bought galvanised metal guttering and then primed and painted it with copper paint , after a few years it did tarnish to a greeny grey that looked rough.
I started to replace with plastic and then a new product came to the Bulgarian market plastic guttering in shiny copper colour. It is about 30% more than the usual colours I dont think it tarnishes over time , maybe there is an equivalent in the UK
I havent bought any as its hard to source locally , I would have to buy direct from the factory
