Out of the blue my warming drawer wont open. Its the type where you push on the glass and it unlocks.

I have googled and can only find advice about if it wont lock when pushed from open to closed. But mine wont unlock.

I have read the latches do fail quite often.

But this does not help me get it open... any ideas? Cheers

1)
Sometimes the latch just misses the release point or gets jammed.
• Push, then pull: Press firmly on the center of the drawer (like you’re trying to open it normally), then quickly hook your fingers under the bottom lip and try to pull as it “pops.”
• Knock around the latch area: Use the bottom of your fist or a rubber mallet and gently tap around where the latch mechanism is (center-top of the drawer) to try and jostle it free.

2. Try a suction cup

If there’s no handle and it’s flush glass:
• Use a suction cup lifter (like for car windshields or shower panels). Stick it near the top center of the glass, where the latch likely is.
• Pull outward while pressing in and releasing like normal — it can help “encourage” the drawer to spring free.

3. Slide a shim or plastic card

If the latch is magnetic or spring-based, sometimes you can slip something in to trip it.
• Try a plastic putty knife or an old credit card, carefully inserted into the top gap between the drawer and the frame.
• Work it side to side across the top edge, applying light pressure downward, as if you’re trying to press on the latch from inside.

4. Power cycling (if it’s electrically assisted)

If the drawer is electronically assisted (even just for the latch):
• Power off the appliance at the breaker for a few minutes.
• Then power back on and try the normal press-to-open motion.

Sometimes a reset releases the latch if it’s stuck due to an electrical glitch.

Cheers I dont think its an electronic lock.

I have tried 1. However I didnt want to go too OTT because the frontage is glass... so I will try again with a bit more force.

So I turned off power.. didnt seem to do anything.

So I got a grip under the glass and just gave it a <cough> firm pull.

Its now open.... smile

I will replace the lock as its would be a PITA if its stuck closed with dinner in there!

Cheers
