Service charge, help!

Service charge on my flat has gone up to over £6500 a year. 6/7 years ago I was paying £1200. Surprise surprise, the original company was bought out by First Port about 18 months ago?

Basically what can I do?

I’d been contemplating selling, so I’ll phone the agents in the morning and get it up for sale ASAP but is there anything I can do in the meantime?

Well is there any reason given? Cladding related etc or literally just gouging you for cash?

It’s exactly this. First Port and RMG are an absolute disgrace. If you weren’t already, I’d suggest moving.

Literally just this. There is some work to be done to the roof, and new carpets needed but I’ve been paying a sum to them for the last 7 years to cover remedial work.
