A month ago I bought a Hisense washing machine. Now I know they're cheap and cheerful, but I have their tumble dryer and smart TV, and both have been great.

The washing machine, however, has had a leaky door from day one. When starting a cycle, the door locks itself, but it's so loose I can fit my hand in the gap. The lock isn't actually pulling on the door to make a seal.

Amazon say it might be 20 days before they can get someone to look at it, so while I'm waiting I thought I'd see if anyone here can give their door a tug while it's locked. This is mine:

That can't be right, can it?

It doesn’t look right. Is the glass moving as well as the plastic door surround?

Yeah, the whole thing is moving. There's a single rubber buffer on the inside top of the door, it looks like an attempt to put extra pressure on the bottom of the door to make it seal better. But as you can see by the video, the slightest touch and the seal is broken, and then it leaks .

I think I've fixed it, it seems okay for now. I really couldn't be chewed waiting "up to 20 working days" for someone to turn up and say they can't fix it. Amazon were useless because apparently I'm two weeks outside my return window irked they directed me to the Hisense website, which didn't work. What a joke.

Anyway, the fixing: I took the door apart and filed some off the back of the latch, meaning it doesn't protrude as much. Now when the washing machine locks for a wash cycle, it pulls the door inwards like it's supposed to.

Glad you've fixed it.

I've got a dead Hisense dishwasher at the moment [1] and I've been ringing 0191 387 0804 for their customer helpdesk. They are very polite but ultimately not able to do much (ie they can't transfer you to anyone to escalate a problem). The actual repairs (for dishwashers at least) are done by Pacifica, they might do the washer repairs as well.

[1] Just waiting for the retailer who we purchased it from 18 months ago to validate the uplift code Hisense have finally given us and it will be getting replaced with a Bosch...

This has been the biggest frustration for me, the customer service. Even Amazon seemed to make it as difficult as possible to get help: they had no email or message options, only a "call me back" button, they had an option for self-troubleshooting, and then the link to the Hisense product page, which was a dead link. They had no return options, only repair by a third-party company.

Considering the machine is brand new, I think it's unreasonable to require people to jump through hoops like that.

Sister had a 4 year old 12kg model which decided to die mid-cycle with a full load , couldn't get the door open.

Ordered a new 8kg Hisense [not a good idea prob., but the price was right ] from Argos, and paid for the "new one fitted, old one taken away " option thinking these NASA trained technicians will know how to empty it without flooding, but no, the chuckle brothers jemmied it open and flooded the kitchen. punch
