Need help from the brain trust. MIL has bought a house with a new induction hob. I can turn on the power but none of the other buttons seem to work. What am I doing wrong ?

Press the white dot next to the red power level number to select the zone.

Drag the white slider thing to the side of the red numbers up and down to adjust the power.

This is total guesswork on my part!

Do you have a model number or any pics?

On my hob, after switching on, you have to hold your finger on the lock sign (padlock) for a few seconds to switch the safety lock off. Then you can set a temperature level.

You need to touch the LED '0' which will underline it, then you can adjust the temp of that section. Although it won't do anything unless pan is in place

Pressing the dot doesn't work. In fact pressing anything doesn't work. Thought might be locked but no lock symbol and holding down any button doesn't do a thing.

Can't find a model number and can't find anything like it through Google.

Have you got an induction-use pan on the hob? If they don't detect a pan they won't work.

Yes brand new set. For context I have a Neff induction hob at home and it's a doddle to use.

Same as mine. You are missing the controller.

Either look at it from underneath or just pop it out of the counter, they're usually only slightly clipped in. Model number will be on a sticker. Then you can get a manual.

The removals guys have seen it, thought “what’s this funny metal thing sitting on the hob?” And then thought “oh well, whatever it is, I’ll sling it in the box with all the other kitchen stuff”. It should have been left behind.

Can you get in touch with the previous owner through the estate agent to see if they’ve got it?

I have a Neff induction hob. Press the On area & the P (boost) 'button' at the same time.
