Filling Hole in Internal wall

Previous had a thread about moving consumer unit/main fuse etc. managed to get it done in a relativey cost effective manner. Only issue is im now responsible for filling the holes left where the wires previously came through the wall to the CU. and another smaller hole which came away when the old boxing was removed.

My initial thought is chisseling the hole to be a bit more square. Getting a block and cutting a matching square shape. mortar around the inside of the hole. slide block in and fill in with more mortar.








This smaller hole not too sure. Was thinking fill in with small parts of block/mortar.


Wall will need plastering to level with rest of wall as it had been plastered after previous boxing was there so there is a 5mm or so step betwen the area previously boxed in and rest of wall

Just fill with mortar and bits of broken brick, keep below the flush till set then render over the top with more sand and cement.

If you use a plasterboard patch then cut out the patch first and then use it as a template for making a same size hole.

Another approach would be to use a few applications of expanding foam to build up inside the hole and when firm to replaster or use lightweight filler to build up a flat and then smooth surface.

Cut a bit of plasterboard slightly bigger than the hole screw a screw into it partway then put it into and through hole. Pull it by the screw to the rear of hole. Mix some bonding plaster (stiff) , hold screw to tension and push plaster into hole. Takes a couple of minutes.
If you are getting a plasterer to skim that wall then don’t bother doing anything as he will have it blocked up sharpish as he does his prep.

Or stick a bit of clear plastic over the hole, trace the shape of hole, use as template for the plasterboard.

Not sure if that connector box should be buried?

I filled some similar holes, get some (probably 1 is enough) light weight (aerated) blocks and trim to roughly the right shape, they are soft enough to cut with an old hand saw, then mortar in place and skim over when set.
