I’ve tiled screeded floors before & suspended wooden floors. However, needing to tile a suspended wooden floor, incorporating under floor heating (electric).
The floor is level & solid. I’m thinking of laying 6mm cement insulation boards (screws & flexi adhesive). Then Detramat, or similar decoupling membrane, then UFH, then tiles, all with flexible adhesive.
Does that sound about right? Any advice welcome. Thanks.

Heating element straight onto the cement boards or ply , it’s self adhesive , then level over with self levelling compound or tile adhesive , both flexible , then tile on top with adhesive and a notched trowel .

Smaller the tiles the better on a bouncy floor. Our 600x600 ones cracked along most of the board joints, but to be fair there wasn't any decoupling mat used.

So is a decoupling membrane not necessary?

I’ve never bothered with de coupling apart from on fresh concrete , and I’ve used this method on countless tiled bathroom floors incorporating an electric heating element.
Prime the boards with a diluted sbr solution just to help the element mat stick , it’s a bit of a pain to lay the mat neatly , i use the backing paper to press it down .
