I thought some of you may be interested in this - I didn't photograph the whole build but you'll get the idea. In our old house I built this:

and I wanted something similar in our new house, but better, this time with a sink and running water added.

I started with this:

I wanted to do things a little differently and wanted some covered storage so snapped up a kitchen that was being given away on marketplace. A lot of it went to the tip, but I selected the bits I wanted, sanded it and painted it a sage green. That sat around in my garage while the blockwork was being built:

Once rendered and painted the units were test fitted, and it was time to start the concrete worktop:

We put some steel bars across the top and then covered in cement board. The sides were then attached using a clever system I found online that gives whatever finish you want around the edges. We used a white concrete and incorporated 30kgs of tumbled blue glass into the mix. It was then poured, aerated, smoothed and ultimately polished, and on Sunday it was finally sealed. There were a few mistakes along the way and some learning too, but I wasn't after perfection, just something usable all year round.

Next steps are to finish cleaning it all, and get some electricity installed. Happy to answer any questions.

If anyone has any idea how I could add a temporary/removable cover to the side facing the garden I'd appreciate it. I was thinking something like a zip in canvas with a window, but I'm sure there's a better way? I just want it to protect from driving rain when I use it.

If simple is what you’re after, I have two custom sized mesh tarps arriving from these guys in the next couple of days: https://www.coversandall.co.uk/tarpaulins-curtains...

They’re intended to be used as trailer covers but I currently have in mind to get one for the front of my log shed to stop rain getting driven in. Lots of eyelets to hang them with, nicely reinforced edges, and just roll it up when not needed.

Can you share details of the system that allowed the "sides were then attached using a clever system I found online that gives whatever finish you want around the edges".

Thanks

I used the Euroform as it was shallower.
