Curry's have been running annoying radio ads recently -

"We do 750,000 tech installs a year" - examples are washing machines, gas ovens and tvs.

There are only 29 million households in the UK.

Curry's do have a presence in Nordic countries so ok maybe they are adding that in.

There is no mention of 750,000 installs from their Chief Executive, there's an old reference to 750,000 repairs:

https://www.currysplc.com/news-media/press-release...

750,000 installs? That sounds an absurdly high number and many thousands of trained technicians. Even 750,000 household deliveries sounds punchy.

(I've made a complaint to the ASA about unsubstantiated claims).

Just wondering how PH feels about their claimed numbers. Feasible?

Perhaps they count each item as an individual job.

That would easily boost numbers if some was to have a TV, fridge, freezer and a dryer fitted for example

Not Curry's related, but this always boils my piss...

Like fk there's 80 limes in a £1.90 bottle of shower gel.

I find the whole Currys ad campaign really irksome.

The voice is simply patronising their future customers - completely alienating...

"Didn't you realise..."

"Why did you employ those clowns..."

etc.

Not a way to engender yourself to people whose money you want, imho.

Currys are a bunch of clowns and best avoided, just look at their adverts.

Their customer service is also beyond shocking. I had an absolute ballache returning a defective washing machine a matter of days after purchase to them. Having to initiate a S75 credit card claim to actually prompt them to take action wasn’t the fun I had in mind that week!

I think you need to stop getting so stressed about things that simply don't matter.

Similarly, I had to do an MCOL application to get my money back after they botched an installation of a built in fridge. Customer services were clearly in India and had a remit to ensure any remedy was painful and fruitless. In the end MCOL was the only option open to me and I did it mostly motivated by retaliation for the amount of time wasted. Even then, they waited until the last day of the waiting period before settling. Never again will I use them.

When Currys adverts start appearing on TV and radio a lot they are in trouble.

Seems unlikely they'd even deliver that many large items, let alone install them.

They don't seem competitive with the likes of AO anymore.

Yep. Lots of TV adverts piss me off and I could spend my whole life writing letters as 'Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells'. Instead I mute the sound and do something else or channel hop for a bit until there's a 5-minute programme break.

Has anyone here seen a TV advert and thought 'Wow I need to buy that!'? I don't think I've ever bought anything as a result of a TV advert.

Oh and another thing - it's 'installation' not 'an install'!!!

Well it’s kind of true :-

“ when you see the claim “80 real limes” on the 500 ml bottle, a reasonable interpretation is: they’ve used citrus raw materials (oil, zest, peel-extract) derived from approximately 80 limes’ worth of fruit (or their equivalent) in the production batch for that size. It isn’t necessarily 80 whole fresh limes processed per bottle”

hehe

I also see your point.

I'm off to get a t-shirt printed that I can wear that says "Contains real dinosaurs."

I'm certain some of the atoms in me were, at one point, part of a dinosaur.

I think of myself as being stardust form the universe.
Where Have I come from and how many places.

And soon I will return to dust to replenish the universe.

Currys - The service has been shocking for decades - So they must be doing something right [from their viewpoint] - that's what's so galling - just avoid them and let the 97% continue. shopping with them.
