Bought a radiator online, the thread for one of the valves was too tight / wrong. Went back to supplier and they've sent a new one and don't want the old one back. Is it worth buying a threading tool or should I just try and get some scrap money?

Cost you around £12 on Ebay or Amazon to try it.

Scrap money will be a pittance.

And then you'll have two radiators, what you going to do , sell one or keep a spare?

I'm embarrassed to admit, it took more than a few moments for the penny to drop, and that this wasn't a designated niche rolling topic for radiators, but a question about radiator threads......

If it’s the tapping on the radiator where the valve attaches that got a tight thread then get a 1/2”bsp tap to clean out the thread.

I fell into the trap many years ago.

I took a vanful of radiators, probably about 10, to the scrappy. It meant clearing my van to load them all in. Went over the weighbridge at the scrappy and unloaded them all into a pile, then back on the weighbridge. Took the chitty into the office and got ......................£1.80.

Probably took me about 3 hours all told plus the fuel.

fk that. Since then I just leave them outside and they get picked up by passing scrappies.

I think they can smell them from a distance, changed one here and I helped plumber down to the road with it, half way back up the path I heard a screech of brakes, went back down it was gone.
