UPVC sash windows - online suppliers

Looking for a supplier of nice 'visually correct' if you like UPVC sash windows if that's not an oxymoron.

Happy to size them and deal remotely with the supplier.

....need polished joints and none of those horrid looking faux horns, require narrow mid rails and nice slender astragals

Drew a complete blank finding anything that is remotely authentic looking in UPVC, so have just ordered timber sash windows from a local supplier.

Expensive but they do look lovely

My next door neighbour has white woodgrain upvc sash and they look really good to my eye, I haven't scrutinised them though closely but he's very happy with them and he's a very particular man. I know he paid a lot for them but im not sure because that was because they charged a lot or they cost a lot iykwim.

Iirc they are residence something.

We are in need ourselves of white woodgrain upvc so will look at them, im interested in what else is out there. timber initially seems near double the cost, using online type prices anyway.

I've seen them but can't understand the whole idea behind woodgrain UPVC which personally I think looks naff - I mean you never see the woodgrain on a painted sash window.

For info our factory finished sash box and weight windows came in at just under £1,500 per unit, complete with all furniture - size does not make a huge difference but for info our daylight sizes are 915mm x 1295mm. This is supply only as we are self fitting.

I think if we could find them at that sort of money they may happen, I do agree on the woodgrain thing I really do. The whole windows thing has and is doing my brain in.

Not sure whether this is what you want, but Residence 9 and Rehau heritage range are recommended.

We went for Rehau Heritage which are marginally thicker than the original sash windows. Which the council originally refused permission for, but it went through on appeal.

Up close it is obviously UPVC despite wood grain finish but from the road you cannot discernably tell. uPVC extrusions are a little too perfect.

The price per unit is £1,557 inc VAT, supply only and manufactured in hardwood (redwood was a bit cheaper). The units are factory painted using a 3 stage spray process prior to final assembly and they use Accoya for the external beads. Price include brass furniture and cords and weights

I obtained a second price from a local competitor who came in at £2,816 per unit inc.

I've looked at a sample unit in their workshop and they are lovely.

Self fitting, yes. The openings aren't formed yet but the sandstone surrounds are also ordered so they have been sized to fit.

Father son project (his cottage) - will be replacing these awful Crittal units which were fitted in the early 50's. We are going back to correct sash proportions with the new windows, its a 200 year old cottage.
