Hanging guitars on dot n dab wall
Discussion
I’m looking to hang 8 guitars on a dot and dab wall. I’m planning on attaching a batten to the wall with corefix plugs and hanging the guitars off that to save drilling too many holes in the wall.
My questions are:
Is a 1x4 suitable for this? The batten will be around 2-2.5m long, and I’d planned on screwing the hangers in with 450mm screws that will go pretty much all the way through the batten.
How many fixings would you recommend for the batten? The corefix website says they’re good for 100kg off four fixings, which will be more than enough for the guitars, but given the length of the batten, I’m not sure if more is better.
I’m drilling very close to where I suspect there are electrical wires and plastic radiator pipes. I’ve got a Franklin wall scanner which is useless, so I’d planned on using a blunt masonry bit to drill most of the way through the PB and then slowly using the same bit to manually finish the hole off, so I can nudge any wires/pipes out the way if possible. Is this a stupid idea?
Thanks all in advance!

Seems fine to me , the only thing i would do different is mark the holes on the plasterboard where you want to drill through and instead of a blunt drill bit just poke a screwdriver carefully through so you definitely know there is nothing behind. Even a blunt drill bit can nick a cable.
